So we have been approached by some of you and we find that some of you do not understand when we say WordPress website setup. Here’s a very short crash course.

There are many ways to build a website.

HTML

The traditional but still used way is to build it from scratch using plain old Hypertext Markup Language(HTML). This is where have all the information with supporting images are added to your website. We then use Cascading Style Sheet(CSS) to stylize the fonts, background, colors, layout and various other details. By this stage, you may fancy a drop down menu for your navigation bar or you want some things to be animated. We use Javascript or any other scripts such as bootstrap and ajax to make your website more dynamic or have a certain function that you desire. Wala! You have a website!

CMS

Wikipedia describes this as follows:

A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that allows publishing, editing, modifying, organizing, deleting, and maintaining content from a central interface. Such systems of content management provide procedures to manage workflow in a collaborative environment.

They also mentioned:

CMSs typically aim to avoid the need for hand coding

This basically makes CMS more preferred to building a website from scratch using HTML. This website is build using the WordPress CMS. It’s fast and easy to setup. Subscribe to our newsletter if you want to learn how to do this yourself. if you don’t want to do this yourself, get hold of us and we will setup everything for you and even show you how everything works.

WordPress.org vs WordPress.com

This is the best part. Some of you come to us and say:

I already have a WordPress account

Good for you but if you understand the previous sub topic about CMS then you will understand that WordPress CMS allows you to

  1. Build a website
  2. Add unlimited amount of pages
  3. Also have your own blog to post everytime you want
  4. Install custom themes for the custom appearance of your site
  5. Install Plugins to add more functionality to your website
  6. Complete control over every aspect of your website

There are more then listed here of course.

So it depends on your purpose of your website. If you just want to blog, express your feelings or create a hobby site, then just create an account at WordPress.com for free and do your stuff there. However, you will have a subdomain instead of a domain name. For example, I have a blog which I so long ignored. Its mindsetjutawan.wordpress.com So my subdomain is mindsetjutawan. So i do not have a mindsetjutawan.com because I created an account with wordpress.com. If you love wordpress.com but you want your own domain name then you may upgrade your plan with wordpress as shown in the screenshot below:

Or you can get your domain name and webhosting, setup wordpress, put in all the information and wala!
